Mission Statement

Matthew House seeks to provide comfort and security for newly arrived refugee claimants in Windsor by providing transitional housing and settlement assistance.

A Refugee is...

...one who has a "well-founded fear of being procecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion" and is afraid to remain in his or her country of origin.  As a refugee claimant they have fled their homeland and upon arrival in Canada ask for asylum.  They have no sponsors to assist them.

...a person like you or I who has much to contribute to Canadian Society.  They are doctors, lawyers, accountants, business people, pastors, engineers and farmers from all over the world.
